The advent of CD’s seemed like the death knell for vinyl during the ‘90s. That was only made worse by file sharing becoming popular as the decade came to a close and edged into the early ‘00s. We now know that vinyl would have an unprecedented resurgence in later years, which has led to collectors desperately seeking out original pressings from the ‘90s. Those rare Creation records pressings that shaped alternative music as we know it today, the rare pressings of iconic grunge records that are white whales for many, and weird and wonderful electronic music are always popular with completists.
Finding original ‘90s pressings is hard for anyone, ourselves included, but it does happen, and we have great stock of some rarities over at eil.com now.
BJORK Homogenic (1997 UK 10-track LP pressed on heavyweight vinyl, including the singles All Is Full Of Love, Bachelorette and Hunter, picture sleeve with printed lyric inner and bonus fold-out poster. The back of the sleeve has just avery small tear in the bottom edge of the left seam, otherwise the sleeve shows minimal wear; the poster has just one slight corner crease from storage and the vinyl remains in near mint condition. A really nice example of this hard to find pressing & only the third copy we have had in over fifteen years TPLP71).
JESUS & MARY CHAIN Stoned & Dethroned (Rare 1994 German Blanco Y Negro 17-track vinyl LP, includes God Help Me, You’ve Been A Friend, These Days and Feeling Lucky, picture sleeve. The sleeve has some some very light discolouration and scuff marks around the edges; however the vinyl is in mint condition).
ENIGMA MCMXC a.D. (Rare 1990 UK 12-track LP, the debut album from the electronic music group, includes the singles Sadeness [Part I], Mea Culpa [Part II], Principles Of Lust and The Rivers Of Belief, picture sleeve with printed inner. The sleeve shows just the lightest edgewear and the vinyl is in near mint condition LPVIR1).
