SONNY CLARK Blues In The Night (Rare 1979 Japanese-only 8-track stereo LP, the original first issue manufactured exclusively by King Records in the ‘World First Appearance’ series. Contains a selection of previously unreleased 1957-58 recordings, with Paul Chambers & Jymie Merritt alternating on bass & Wes Landers, drums. Comes housed in a unique picture sleeve complete with Japanese insert & obi-strip. The sleeve is Excellent with some natural foxing to the back panel & back of the obi & the vinyl appears Near Mint. Tough to find unissued Blue Note! GXF-3051).
VIC LEWIS My Life My Way – Sessions 1938-1974 (One-off double-sided metal based high grade methyl cellulose lacquer acetate set for the 1975 UK 56-track 4-LP box, with De Lane Lea Music Centre studio labels with annotated side details. Documents the late bandleader’s life’s work, starring everyone from Tubby Hayes, Dill Jones, Ronnie Ross, Ronnie Scott, Kenny Wheeler, John Williams, Vic Ash, Victor Feldman & many more, & comes housed in the retail laminated & embossed 12″ square box with the 12-page illustrated booklet of detailed notes & recording dates. This is a near mint archive ACETATE set obtained directly from the private collection of the late Vic Lewis himself & quite possibly unique! A special treat for British jazz collectors SPECB103).
JOHN SURMAN, ALAN SKIDMORE & TONY OXLEY Jazz In Britain ’68-’69 (Rare 1972 UK 5-track stereo LP, featuring some magnificent new wave British Jazz from sessions recorded in the late sixties with a ‘supergroup’ also starring Mike Osbourne on Alto, John Taylor on Piano & Kenny Wheeler on Flugelhorn, front laminated picture sleeve. The sleeve shows just a little light shelfwear, mostly to the unlaminated back & the vinyl remains in excellent condition with little sign of play ECS2114).
