For better or worse, the ‘90s will be remembered for a lot of iconic moments, but mostly it will be for the music. There was the rise of Brit Pop and the battle between Oasis and Blur, Nirvana bringing grunge to the mainstream and influencing an entire generation to wear a plaid shirt, the Spice Girls taking over the world, and Jarvis Cocker’s stage invasion during Michael Jackson’s performance at the Brit Awards.
While music was more popular than virtually any other decade, vinyl was on the decline. CD was the chosen format, rendering cassettes obsolete, and causing vinyl sales to dwindle. Record companies began pressing less and stores rarely stocked anything other than the biggest selling titles. Now, many of the albums of the time are considered collector’s items and sell for premium prices.
We don’t always see that many collections of ‘90s vinyl here, but when we do, you can almost guarantee them to be of a high quality both in condition and content. Below are a few highlights we have in stock, and be sure to keep an eye on our latest arrivals.
SMASHING PUMPKINS Pisces Iscariot (Ultra rare limited edition 1994 US 14-track LP pressed on clear YELLOW vinyl with exclusive GOLD vinyl bonus 7″ of Not Worth Asking & Honey Spider. A superb item that was limited to just 2000 copies & individually hand numbered on the reverse of the picture sleeve. This copy remains in a ‘near mint’ condition, retaining the original openedhype stickered shrinkwrap!).
TOM VERLAINE Warm And Cool (Scarce 1992 UK Rough Trade 14-track vinyl LP, his seventh album and first all-instrumental effort, picture sleeve with black company inner. Both the sleeve & vinyl are in near ‘as new’ condition R2881).
