From Planet Rock.
A new Gary Moore live album is being released in early 2020, which was recorded at an intimate Planet Rock show at London’s Islington Academy almost exactly decade ago.
Released on Friday 31st January via Provogue/Mascot Label Group, ‘Live From London’, captures Gary Moore’s entire 13-song concert for Planet Rock at the 800-capacity Islington Academy on 2nd December 2009.
The virtuoso Northern Irish guitarist sadly passed away 14 months after the concert while on holiday in Spain in February 2011.
Among the songs that feature on ‘Live From London’ are the seminal Gary Moore originals ‘Still Got the Blues (For You)’ and set closer ‘Parisienne Walkways’, plus covers of tracks by Albert King (‘Oh, Pretty Woman’), John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers (‘Have You Heard’) and Otis Rush (‘All Your Love (I Miss Loving)’).
Provogue/Mascot Label Group call the album ‘one last shard of genius, catching a generation-best performer firing on all cylinders, and reminding us one last time why he was put on this planet.’
Planet Rock’s very own Jon Norman, who organised the show, says of Gary Moore’s majestic performance on the night: “It was the way that he could make a guitar sound.
“Other people have tried and failed to do the same. It was just quite mesmerising what he could do with that Les Paul. He even overran the venue’s curfew that night – it just felt like he never wanted to stop playing.”
Indeed, Gary Moore himself said of set closer ‘Parisienne Walkways’: “I can hardly get away without doing it. It’s quite a long version, because I like to draw things out. Us guitar players, if we can squeeze a bit more out of it, we’re gonna do it, aren’t we?”
The ‘Live From London’ track-listing is as follows:
1. Oh, Pretty Woman
2. Bad For You Baby
3. Down The Line
4. Since I Met You Baby
5. Have You Heard
6. All Your Love

9. Too Tired / Gary’s Blues 1
10. Still Got The Blues
11. Walking By Myself
12. The Blues Alright
