What is an audiophile pressing?
Well, in a nutshell, it’s an audio format pressed to help enhance the sound quality, be that on vinyl or Compact Disc.
The idea being the heavier the vinyl pressing, the better. There have been pressings released from 120 up to 200 Gram in weight, usually the 200 Gram will play at 45rpm providing a better audio experience, instead of the standard 33 1/3rpm.
Compact Discs have various different formats, gold was used in the earlier pressing as it supposedly provided a better a clearer sound reproduction.
Mobile Fidelity are known for being one of the leaders in producing vinyl and CDs of an audiophile grade, with the original releases now highly collectable.
We now have Super Audio CDs, SHM-CD providing a high-fidelity-audio, Blu-Spec CDs using Blu-ray technology, along with DVD-Audio using DVD technology, both providing surround sound audio.

HERBIE HANCOCK Thrust (2009 UK/EU 4-track LP, remastered and pressed on 180gm audiophile vinyl. Originally released in 1974 this album directly followed Head Hunters and Herbie used the same band except for drummer Harvey Mason, who is replaced by jazz great Mike Clark. Again, only four songs on this single LP, each around 10 minutes long. Butterfly is a great spacey jam with intricate twists and turns and the intro drum break of Palm Grease is essential for all groove addicts!Picture sleeve replicates the original Rob Springett artwork, sealed with hype sticker intact.
AEROSMITH Get Your Wings (2013 UK Record Store Day limited edition 8-track LP pressed on 180 Gram Audiophile Vinyl. The second album by the American hard rock band originally released in 1974, remastered from the original source tapes. Comes in an individually numbered picture sleeve still in the double stickered resealable sleeve).
DIRE STRAITS The Studio Albums 1978-1991 (National Album Day 2020 UK/EU limited edition 8-LP box set pressed on audiophile quality 180-gram Heavyweight Vinyl – originally released in 2013, featuringall six of their studio albums – Dire Straits, Communique, Making Movies, Love Over Gold, Brothers In Arms and On Every Street.
