Record stores were among the businesses hit hard in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, forcing shops across the country to be shuttered and many stores faced with potential closure during this unprecedented time.
An online campaign, #LoveRecordStores, was launched in March in a bid to encourage music fans to shop online and help out their favourite record stores. This has now given way to the Love Record Stores Day event taking place across the country tomorrow (June 20th), which will include limited edition releases, along with a virtual 24 hour in store performances, DJ sets, readings and interviews from musicians and industry figures.
Some of the limited edition releases that will be available during stores online platforms include a limited picture disc of the Oasis classic, Definitely Maybe, a white vinyl repress of Radiohead’s last album, A Moon Shaped Pool, and further releases from Nirvana, Arctic Monkey’s, The Libertines and more. A full list of titles and participating stores can be found at the Love Record Stores Day website.
With a raft of artists taking part in the virtual in store performances at various locations, just some of the names include Tim Burgess, Fontaines DC, Blanck Mass, The Go! Team, Moby, Circa Waves and many, many more.
The full programme and details on how to watch can be found at the Love Record Store Day website
