The advent of CD’s seemed like the death knell for vinyl during the ‘90s. That was only made worse by file sharing becoming popular as the decade came to a close and edged into the early ‘00s. We now know that vinyl would have an unprecedented resurgence in later years, which has led to collectors desperately seeking out original pressings from the ‘90s. Those rare Creation records pressings that shaped alternative music as we know it today, the rare pressings of iconic grunge records that are white whales for many, and weird and wonderful electronic music are always popular with completists.
Finding original ‘90s pressings is hard for anyone, ourselves included, but it does happen, and we have great stock of some rarities over at eil.com now.
BILLY JOEL River Of Dreams (Archive Quality 1993 Dutch first press 10-track LP, housed in a glossy picture sleeve depicting a painting of Joel by then wife, Christie Brinkley, complete with lyric inner. This is a one previous owner example & boththe sleeve & vinyl are a lovely Near Mint. A tough nineties pressing to find in any condition!).
SUEDE Dog Man Star (1994 UK 12-track double vinyl LP including The Wild Ones and New Generation, housed in a gatefold picture sleeve with lyrics inside and all white inners. The sleeve displays some light wear mostly to the egdes & corners, whilst the vinyl has only a few light signs of play. An excellent example of this hard to find vinyl release NUDE3LP).
PORTISHEAD Dummy (Debut 1994 UK 10-track LP, one of the greatest albums of the nineties, with dark hip-hop inspired loops, British spy thriller samples & gripping songwriting, this influential album still sounds fresh today. Includes the classicsingles Numb, Sour Box & Glory Box, picture sleeve with illustrated credits inner. The sleeve & vinyl remain in Excellent conditon with just light signs of wear & play).
