Musicians traditionally tend to write music for themselves. They use the fire burning inside them to spur creativity and write something that other can connect with, which for most is the only reward they need. Of course, it is always nice when the artist is recognised for their achievements from the industry they are part of.
This mostly comes in the form of being presented an award from the governing bodies such as the BPI, RIAA, ARIA, and so on. Sometimes, these awards make their way into the hands of collectors and the public, and we see no shortage of them here. From Platinum discs celebrating sales over the one million mark, to in house presentation CD awards, they make great pieces to display, and the perfect addition to any collection of records or memorabilia.

SEPULTURA Chaos A.D. (Official 1994 UK B.P.I. Certified Silver award issued to commemorate album sales in excess of 60,000 copies. This nicely framed and glazed award measures 16″ x 16″ in size, and features a copy of the Compact Disc next to the album artwork above the authentic, custom engraved dedication plaque. All mounted on a silver background with a blue surround which has a Union ‘Jack’ Flag in the top left corner, in a silver coloured metal frame).
JENNIFER LOPEZ On The 6 (Official RIAA Certified US Multi-Platinum Award issued to commemorate American album sales in excess of 3,000,000 copies. This nicely framed and glazed award measures 17″ x 25″ in size, and features a platinum LP discwith an overlapping authentic, custom engraved dedication plaque and RIAA hologram, with a copy of the Compact Disc in the bottom left and ‘Multi-Platinum Sales Award’ cassette shell in the bottom right. All the top above the disc are three album artwork miniatures denoting 1 to 3 Million Sales, all on a blue mount with a black die-cut surround and black plastic coated wooden frame. This example remains in the shrink from manufacture!).
COLDPLAY X&Y (Official Swiss in-house sales award issued to commemorate album sales reaching the Platinum status of the 2005 album in Switzerland, and presented to the bands manager. This unique stye award measures 11½” x 21½”in size, and features the album artwork image the whole length as the background image, a copy of the Compact Disc at the top, album artwork image below and the authentic, custom engraved dedication plaque at the bottom. This is all between two sheets of 5mm Perspex with a metal screw holding them together in each corner).
