From Planet Rock.
Rock legends Deep Purple have announced a five-date UK arena tour for October 2020.
Taking place three years on from their ‘inFinite The Long Goodbye Tour’, Deep Purple will play Manchester Arena on 2nd October 2020 and hit London The O2, Glasgow The SSE Hydro and Leeds First Direct Arena before culminating at Arena Birmingham on 8th October.
The very special guests at all five dates are Blue Öyster Cult. Tickets go on sale from Planet Rock Tickets at 10am on Friday 6th December.
The arena tour will support the release of Deep Purple’s as-yet-untitled 21st studio album in 2020, which Ian Gillan recent confirmed the band had finished recording.
Deep Purple drummer Ian Paice said of the arena tour: “As always playing in your home country is special and exciting and touring with the “Cult” ensures it’s going to be a great run of gigs.”
Frontman Ian Gillan adds: “It is fantastic to be playing some home shows again…the band is cranking and full of it, plus there will be a couple or three new songs, dunno how we’re going to squeeze it all in, but we always manage somehow. Can’t wait to blow your socks off.”
Commenting on Blue Öyster Cult’s special guest slot, vocalist Eric Bloom said: “I am personally thrilled to be playing with Deep Purple again. As a fan of their music, I’ll be sure to stay and watch their show nightly.
“Such a deep catalogue of great classic songs plus great musicianship and singing. Great guys too. Looking forward to it.”
BÖC’s guitarist Buck Dharma added: “BӦC is excited to return to the UK and support Deep Purple, a band we’ve always admired and who has inspired BӦC to rock since the beginning.”
