My Bloody Valentine planning two new EPs

My Bloody Valentine are said to be working on two new EP releases.

The first is due this summer, which mastermind Kevin Shields has described as a “sprawling EP,” with the other to follow in 2019. Shields has also hinted at wanted to make a double LP version of their iconic album Loveless available.

“We only really got backing track stuff done, drums and stuff,” Shields told Sound on Sound Magazine. “And then I’ve only really got into it, now, essentially because I’m not making an album in the way I would normally make an album, which is a self-contained thing.

“It’s more like I’m making an EP, but I don’t want to be constrained to four songs or a certain length or anything,” he continued. “It’s really an EP, but it’s a sprawling EP. I’m going to do a couple of them before I do an album.”

My Bloody Valentine recently released remastered versions of Isn’t Anything and Loveless, while their last new music was released in 2013 on their comeback album, MBV. The band will perform at the Royal Festival Hall this summer as part of Robert Smith’s Meltdown Festival.
