Billed as an ‘exclusive intimate acoustic performance’, the unique gig takes place at the 2,000-capacity PRYZM in Kingston-Upon-Thames on Friday 14th February 2020.
The concert celebrates The Who’s latest album ‘Who’, which was released to critical acclaim last Friday (6th December), and takes place 50 years to the day of their historic gig at the University of Leeds Refectory which was immortalised on their ‘Live at Leeds’ album.
Tickets to the never to be repeated acoustic show go on sale from Banquet Records’ website at 11am this morning (11th December).
THE WHO ANNOUNCE THEIR MOST INTIMATE SHOW IN 40 YEARS!
ON SALE 11 AM 11.12.19! Ticket details: http://smarturl.it/TheWhoBanquetShow …To celebrate the release of ‘WHO’ – The Who’s ‘best album since 1975….’ The Who announce they will play their smallest live show in over 40 years!
‘Who’ is currently at Number One at the midweek stage on this week’s Official Albums Chart. If it stays there it will be the band’s first UK chart topper since ‘Who’s Next’ back in September 1971.
On Monday, the album was 6,000 sales ahead of its closest chart rival – Robbie Williams’ The Christmas Present.
Pete Townshend says of ‘Who’: “This album is almost all new songs written last year, with just two exceptions… There is no theme, no concept, no story, just a set of songs that I (and my brother Simon) wrote to give Roger Daltrey some inspiration, challenges and scope for his newly revived singing voice.
“Roger and I are both old men now, by any measure, so I’ve tried to stay away from romance, but also from nostalgia if I can. I didn’t want to make anyone feel uncomfortable. Memories are okay, and some of the songs refer to the explosive state of things today.”
The Who also head out on a headline UK arena tour in March and April 2020. Tickets are on sale from Planet Rock Tickets now.
