PAUL GONSALVES Cookin’:Wonderful 1958 US first press 9-track deep groove mono LP on the black & silver Argo label, simply a masterclass in contemporary Jazz & packed with original material, recorded August 6, 1957 with Clark Terry, Willie Jones, & fellow Ellington band members, Jimmy Woode & Sam Woodyard. The sleeve states “Daddy-O” Presents & there is a song called ‘Daddy-O Patio’ dedicated to Chicago’s then-leading jazz DJ, Daddy-O Daylie, more info here

MILES DAVIS SEXTET & QUINTET Miles At Newport: 1973 Dutch 8-track LP, featuring John Coltrane, Bill Evans & Cannonball Adderley recorded in July, 1958. The second side features a Sextet recording from New York in May, 1956 & the Quintet with Hank Mobley at the Blackhawk, San Francisco in April, 1961, more info here

ROSEMARY SQUIRES Shine: 2001 Japanese-only promotional sample 15-track DSD [Direct Stream Digital] CD, with ‘sample’ stamped inner rim on disc. The album was recorded that year at Red Gables, Studios in Soho, London with British Jazz veterans,Brian Dee, Alec Dankworth, Dave Green, Clark Tracey & more, obtained directly from the personal collection of Rosemary Squires O.B.E. herself. Comes housed in a mini LP-style pasted picture sleeve with Japanese insert & promo stickered obi-strip. More info hereUltimate Jazz, rare originals…..PER HUSBY SEPTETT Peacemaker: Rare 1977 Norwegian-only 9-track LP, a beautiful Euro jazz winner released in very limited numbers by the student society in Trondheim, Norway. Comes housed in a wonderful looking, unique & fully textured picturesleeve. The title piece is a deep, reflective modal number in the Miles tradition & ‘Adgang F.’ is THE standout Jazz-Dance tune. There was a limited CD re-release of this album years ago but with inferior artwork. The sound quality was no match for the original vinyl release either! More info here
