Nirvana, Soundgarden and Pearl Jam members form new band 3rd Secret

From Planet Rock.

Members of three of Seattle’s most eminent rock bands – NirvanaPearl Jam and Soundgarden – have joined forces to form a new six-piece band called 3rd Secret.

3rd Secret features former Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic, Soundgarden guitarist Kim Thayil, and Soundgarden and Pearl Jam drummer Matt Cameron.

The sextet is completed by Bubba Dupree, guitarist for D.C. hardcore outfit Void and alt-metal supergroup Hater (also featuring Matt Cameron), and vocalists Jennifer Johnson and Jillian Raye (Krist Novoselic’s bandmate in Giants In The Trees).

Alongside announcing the new project, 3rd Secret have also surprise released their 11-track, self-titled debut album ‘3rd Secret’. The record was recorded and mixed by esteemed Seattle producer Jack Endino who has worked with the likes of Bruce Dickinson, Hole, Therapy? and Screaming Trees amongst many others.

3rd Secret also made their live debut at a secret show at Seattle’s Museum of Pop Culture (MoPOP) recently.

3rd Secret is the first time Soundgarden’s Kim Thayil and Matt Cameron have worked on a full album together since the death of Chris Cornell in 2017.

Krist Novoselic first alluded to a new musical venture in February when he wrote in a now-deleted tweet: “I am really busy trying to finish a record. In the middle of some hangups — looking for a mid-March release. But it’s a secret, so don’t tell anybody!”

The 3rd Secret album track-listing:

1) Rhythm Of The Ride

2) I Choose Me

3) Last Day Of August

4) Winter Solstice

5) Lies Fade Away

6) Live Without You
