What is an autograph?

From Wikipedia, an autograph is a person’s own handwriting or signature. The word autograph comes from Ancient Greek (αὐτός, autós, “self” and γράφω, gráphō, “write”), and can mean more specifically a manuscript written by the author of its content, or a celebrity’s handwritten signature.

HAWKWIND Levitation – Autographed 1980 UK limited edition 9-track LP pressed on Blue Vinyl, glossy picture sleeve. A wonderful album featuring Ginger Baker on drums, also the first ever fully digitally recorded rock album. The sleeve displays just light wear whilst the vinyl looks barely played. This has been signed by the touring line-up of Dave Brock, Huw Lloyd-Langton, Harvey Bainbridge and Ginger Baker across the front of the sleeve all in a blue point pen. Stunning and would look amazing framed & displayed.

THE DUKES OF STRATOSPHEAR Chips From The Chocolate Fireball – Autographed 2001 UK 16-track remastered CD anthology of both classic Dukes LPs, originally released in 1987. This is XTC in disguise, complete with lyric booklet picture sleeve. This has been boldly signed by Sir John Johns aka Andy Partridge, and Red Curtain aka Colin Moulding on the front of the sleeve in silver marker pen.

GUIDED BY VOICES Suitcase 2: American Superdream Wow – Rare 2005 limited edition FOUR CD set released as part of ‘The Fading Captain Series’ and continues on ‘Suitcase 1’ with the CDs numbered Five to Eight, comprising another 100 previously unreleased tracks from their career with each song [once again] credited to a fictitious band name. All four discs look ‘as new’ sitting in individual jewel cases accomapanied by the extensive picture booklet and the outer picture slipcase. Additionally, while showing just a little shelfwear to the edges, this was one of the first 900 copies to be AUTOGRAPHED by Robert Pollard on the front in black marker pen!

RICK WAKEMAN & THE ENGLISH ROCK ENSEMBLE The Red Planet – 2020 UK 8-track 2-LP set, both records pressed on Red Vinyl with ‘scenes from Mars’ picture labels. This super limited edition is housed in a gatefold picture sleeve with a cool Pop-Up astronaut inside. Each sleeve has been hand-numbered from an edition of just 1000 copies, and this example has been autographed on the front cover by Rick Wakeman himself. Please note: there is a crease to the top right corner of the picture cover due to inadequate packaging from the distributor! The sleeve remains inside its original shrink, opened so that Rick could sign beneath, and the vinyl records are unplayed.

CHRISSIE HYNDE With THE VALVE BONE WOE ENSEMBLE Valve Bone Woe – Autographed 2019 UK 14-track CD, the second solo studio album by the American singer-songwriter; digipak picture sleeve with lyric booklet which has been boldly signed by Chrissie in a black marker pen.
