For better or worse, the ‘90s will be remembered for a lot of iconic moments, but mostly it will be for the music. There was the rise of Brit Pop and the battle between Oasis and Blur, Nirvana bringing grunge to the mainstream and influencing an entire generation to wear a plaid shirt, the Spice Girls taking over the world, and Jarvis Cocker’s stage invasion during Michael Jackson’s performance at the Brit Awards.
While music was more popular than virtually any other decade, vinyl was on the decline. CD was the chosen format, rendering cassettes obsolete, and causing vinyl sales to dwindle. Record companies began pressing less and stores rarely stocked anything other than the biggest selling titles. Now, many of the albums of the time are considered collector’s items and sell for premium prices.
We don’t always see that many collections of ‘90s vinyl here, but when we do, you can almost guarantee them to be of a high quality both in condition and content. Below are a few highlights we have in stock, and be sure to keep an eye on our latest arrivals.
SMASHING PUMPKINS Gish (Rare original 1991 UK 10-track vinyl LP, their classic debut album including I Am One, Siva & Rhinoceros [along with a secret untitled song at the end!], picture sleeve featuring the fish-eye lens artwork with an illustrated inner. The sleeve displays some minor wear mostly to the edges, whilst the vinyl has just a few light signs of play, overall an excellent example HUTLP2).
SIOUXSIE & THE BANSHEES Superstition (Rare 1991 UK 11-track vinyl LP including Kiss Them For Me & The Ghost In You, picture sleeve complete with lyric inner. The sleeve shows minimal wear and the vinyl has just a few light cosmetic scuffs & hairlines with little sign of spindle wear to indicate play – a top copy).
FINLEY QUAYE Maverick A Strike (1997 UK 13-track LP, the debut album from the Scottish musician including Sunday Shining and Even After All, complete with illustrated lyric inner, hype stickered textured picture sleeve. The sleeve shows just alittle light shelfwear & the vinyl remains in excellent condition with few sigsn of play).
