For better or worse, the ‘90s will be remembered for a lot of iconic moments, but mostly it will be for the music. There was the rise of Brit Pop and the battle between Oasis and Blur, Nirvana bringing grunge to the mainstream and influencing an entire generation to wear a plaid shirt, the Spice Girls taking over the world, and Jarvis Cocker’s stage invasion during Michael Jackson’s performance at the Brit Awards.
While music was more popular than virtually any other decade, vinyl was on the decline. CD was the chosen format, rendering cassettes obsolete, and causing vinyl sales to dwindle. Record companies began pressing less and stores rarely stocked anything other than the biggest selling titles. Now, many of the albums of the time are considered collector’s items and sell for premium prices.
We don’t always see that many collections of ‘90s vinyl here, but when we do, you can almost guarantee them to be of a high quality both in condition and content. Below are a few highlights we have in stock, and be sure to keep an eye on our latest arrivals.
MY BLOODY VALENTINE Loveless (Classic original 1991 UK 11-track vinyl LP with hand-scratched matrices that read: CRELP-060-A5 DMM ASL TOWNHOUSE 3 MAX / CRELP-060-B5 DMM ASL TOWNHOUSE 3 MAX. One of the greatest examples of early nineties British guitar rock, with warm fuzzy guitar cascades over menacing sexy vocals and is also famous for ‘bankrupting’ Creation Records when Shields’ perfectionism resulted in long delays in the studio. The results were worth it!! The first pressing isstill considered the best sounding version by hardcore fans. The glossy picture sleeve [EX/EX-] is complete with the illustrated inner and shows a little ringwear & scuffing from shelf wear around the edges, with all text legible including along the spine. The vinyl is EX-, revealing only a few faint paper hairlines and the odd mild paper scuff. Increasingly in demand & essential CRELP060).
SUPERGRASS In It For The Money (1997 UK 12-track vinyl LP, including Sun Hits The Sky, Richard III and Going Out, hype stickered textured picture sleeve and textured card picture inner. The sleeve displays some light general wear and the vinyl remains excellent with just a few light surface scuffs, but plays without any issues PCS7388).
SIOUXSIE & THE BANSHEES Superstition (Rare 1991 UK 11-track vinyl LP including Kiss Them For Me & The Ghost In You, picture sleeve complete with lyric inner. The sleeve shows minimal wear and the vinyl has just a few light cosmetic scuffs & hairlines with little sign of spindle wear to indicate play – a top copy).
