Musicians traditionally tend to write music for themselves. They use the fire burning inside them to spur creativity and write something that other can connect with, which for most is the only reward they need. Of course, it is always nice when the artist is recognised for their achievements from the industry they are part of.
This mostly comes in the form of being presented an award from the governing bodies such as the BPI, RIAA, ARIA, and so on. Sometimes, these awards make their way into the hands of collectors and the public, and we see no shortage of them here. This superb award features a picture CD and the sleeve artwork mounted on a red background above a ‘Gold Sales Award’ plaque and a gold ‘BPI Certified Sales Award’ dedication plaque, with a mini Union Jack flag in the top left corner. SARAH MCLACHLAN Touch / Solace (Official Canadian CRIA certified GOLD award issued to commemorate duel album sales in excess of 50,000 units – this was presented at the time the album actually achieved the sales. This beautifully framed and glazed award measures 22½” x 18½” in size, and features the CD album artwork mounted on a metal mount along with a compact disc for each album, complete with a custom engraved dedication plaque and ‘Canadian Certified Gold’ plaque both at the bottom – all mounted on a terquize coloured background with a golden metal frame)
SANTANA Supernatural (Rare official year 2000 UK Arista Records In-house 2xPLATINUM sales award disc issued to commemorate sales in excess of 600,000 copies sold of the album. Features the 2 copies of the picture CD album and sleeve artwork mounted on a black & platinum bordered plate with a black felt background, above a platinum engraved dedication plaque with mini Union ‘Jack’ Flag in the top left corner. Approximately 16″ x 16″ in size and framed in silver aluminium and glazed – truly stunning item!).
