For better or worse, the ‘90s will be remembered for a lot of iconic moments, but mostly it will be for the music. There was the rise of Brit Pop and the battle between Oasis and Blur, Nirvana bringing grunge to the mainstream and influencing an entire generation to wear a plaid shirt, the Spice Girls taking over the world, and Jarvis Cocker’s stage invasion during Michael Jackson’s performance at the Brit Awards.
While music was more popular than virtually any other decade, vinyl was on the decline. CD was the chosen format, rendering cassettes obsolete, and causing vinyl sales to dwindle. Record companies began pressing less and stores rarely stocked anything other than the biggest selling titles. Now, many of the albums of the time are considered collector’s items and sell for premium prices.
We don’t always see that many collections of ‘90s vinyl here, but when we do, you can almost guarantee them to be of a high quality both in condition and content. Below are a few highlights we have in stock, and be sure to keep an eye on our latest arrivals.
ROLLING STONES Voodoo Lounge (Rare 1994 UK 14-track double LP, the group’s twentieth British album which found ex-fusion bassist Darryl Jones brought into the fold, hype stickered gatefold picture sleeve with illustrated lyric inners. The sleeve is Excellent with just a little minor edge scuffing & both vinyl discs are Excellent with merely the lightest evidence of play. A really nice example of this hard to fine nineties vinyl pressing V2750).
JAMIROQUAI The Return Of The Space Cowboy (1994 UK 11-track double LP, including the singles Stillness In Time & Space Cowboy, textured gatefold picture sleeve with lyric inners. The sleeve shows just a little light edgewear and the vinyl looks barely played).
PHIL COLLINS Both Sides (Rare 1993 UK AUTOGRAPHED 11-track double LP, including the singles Both Sides Of The Story, Everyday, We Wait & We Wonder & Can’t Turn Back The Years, hype-stickered gatefold picture sleeve with the lyrics inside. The sleeve has been dedicated and signed ‘To Keith – Phil’ in blue ballpoint pen. The album was signed for the previous owner at an autograph session in the mid-90’s. A great collectors item V2800).
