For better or worse, the ‘90s will be remembered for a lot of iconic moments, but mostly it will be for the music. There was the rise of Brit Pop and the battle between Oasis and Blur, Nirvana bringing grunge to the mainstream and influencing an entire generation to wear a plaid shirt, the Spice Girls taking over the world, and Jarvis Cocker’s stage invasion during Michael Jackson’s performance at the Brit Awards.
While music was more popular than virtually any other decade, vinyl was on the decline. CD was the chosen format, rendering cassettes obsolete, and causing vinyl sales to dwindle. Record companies began pressing less and stores rarely stocked anything other than the biggest selling titles. Now, many of the albums of the time are considered collector’s items and sell for premium prices.
We don’t always see that many collections of ‘90s vinyl here, but when we do, you can almost guarantee them to be of a high quality both in condition and content. Below are a few highlights we have in stock, and be sure to keep an eye on our latest arrivals.
THE CRANBERRIES Everybody Else Is Doing It So Why Can’t We? (1993 UK limited edition 12-track audiophile vinyl LP, custom stickered black sleeve with CD sized lyric picture booklet. The sleeve displays minimal wear and the vinyl shows only light signs of play. A really nice example of this hard to find 90s pressing ILPS8003).
PEARL JAM Vs (Original 1993 Dutch 12-track LP, the second album including the singles Go, Daughter, Animal & Dissident, housed in a custom stickered gatefold picture sleeve with illustrated lyric inner [both have no mention of the album title anywhere]. The sleeve has some light edgewear, the inner has some minor foxing and the vinyl is Excellent with little evidence of play).
METALLICA Reload (1997 US 13-track double LP, including the singles The Memory Remains and The Unforgiven II, gatefold picture sleeve with picture/lyric inners. The sleeve is graded as EX- with some notable storage scuffs and ringwear, whilst the vinyl shows few signs of play).
