A New Phil Lynott Documentary Coming To Cinemas

From Lovin..

Phil Lynott’s life and career is set to be the subject of a new documentary that’s coming to Irish cinemas.

The feature-length film from Irish director Emer Reynolds will chart the iconic singer’s rise to fame from growing up in 1950s Dublin, his massive success with Thin Lizzy over the years and his death aged just 36.

Phil Lynott: Songs For While I’m Away will feature plenty of interviews including former Thin Lizzy members Eric Bell, Scott Gorham, Darren Wharton and Midge Ure.

We’ll also get to see interviews with the likes of U2’s Adam Clayton, Huey Lewis, Suzy Quatro, Metallica frontman James Hetfield and Lynott’s former Skid Row bandmate Brush Shiels.

Director Emer Reynolds won several awards including an Emmy for her Voyager documentary The Farthest in 2017.

She said, “Having been a huge Thin Lizzy fan throughout my life, it’s an incredible honour to be bringing this celebratory and intimate portrait of lead singer and songwriter Philip Lynott to the big screen.”
