JAZZ Vinyl & CDs at eil.com this week includes Lionel Hampton, Art Pepper, Frank Wright and more

Ain’t nothing but a jazz thing here at eil.com this week with a vast array of top jazz rare vinyl and CDs coming through the doors, here’s a few to whet your jazz whistle, see them all in our Jazz collectors store.

Lionel Hampton – The Lionel Hampton Quartet: Mid 50s UK factory sample stickered label 4-track mono vinyl LP, where Hamp escapes from his more usual big band setting to improvise & swing in fine company, also featuring Oscar Peterson on Piano, Ray Brown on Bass & Buddy Rich on Drums. The fully laminated scalloped flipback sleeve is in superb condition with just a little light shelfwear & a few spots of laminate lift, with the vinyl remaining immaculate

Art Pepper – Modern Jazz Classics: 1959 US 12-track Mono LP on a ‘Deep Groove’ Contemporary label featuring Art working in a ‘big band’ format with full horn section over piano, bass & drums, arranged by Marty Paich, pasted picture sleeve. The sleeve shows just a little light shelfwear & the vinyl remains in excellent condition with few signs of play

Frank Wright – Your Prayer: Debut 1967 US original 5-track stereo LP on the cult ESP-Disk label, recorded in downtown New York with Arthur Jones [alto sax], Jacques Coursil [trumpet], Steve Tintweiss [bass] & Muhammad Ali [drums, not the boxer but just as tough!]. The pasted picture sleeve has a small French library sticker attached to a back corner & grades VG+ with some scuffing & minor paper wear, with all text legible. The vinyl has been professionally cleaned & grades Excellentwith very little evidence of play. A fine copy of this incredible Spiritual Jazz fire music on record!
