For better or worse, the ‘90s will be remembered for a lot of iconic moments, but mostly it will be for the music. There was the rise of Brit Pop and the battle between Oasis and Blur, Nirvana bringing grunge to the mainstream and influencing an entire generation to wear a plaid shirt, the Spice Girls taking over the world, and Jarvis Cocker’s stage invasion during Michael Jackson’s performance at the Brit Awards.
While music was more popular than virtually any other decade, vinyl was on the decline. CD was the chosen format, rendering cassettes obsolete, and causing vinyl sales to dwindle. Record companies began pressing less and stores rarely stocked anything other than the biggest selling titles. Now, many of the albums of the time are considered collector’s items and sell for premium prices.
We don’t always see that many collections of ‘90s vinyl here, but when we do, you can almost guarantee them to be of a high quality both in condition and content. Below are a few highlights we have in stock, and be sure to keep an eye on our latest arrivals.
Tori Amos – Little Earthquakes: Classic 1991 German 12-track vinyl LP, widely regarded as one of the standout debut albums of the last twenty years, as it oozes quality & integrity, picture sleeve with lyrics on reverse. The sleeve shows just a little light shelfwear, the vinyl shows some minor, cosmetic blemishes to one side but these do not affect play – a ’90s classic priced advantageously
Happy Mondays – Pills ‘N’ Thrills And Bellyaches: Classic 1990 UK first edition 10-track vinyl LP, including Loose Fit and Kinky Afro, complete with illustrated credits inner, glossy picture sleeve featuring US candy company logos which was later withdrawn. The sleeve [VG+/EX-] shows only light shelfwear with some light edgescuffing and ringwear. The vinyl grades VG/VG+ and shows only cosmetic surface scuffs and hairlines with spindlewear kept to a minimum.
Orbital – In Sides: 1996 UK 6-track Triple vinyl LP set with one track per side, the fourth album by the British electronic group, including the single The Box, picture sleeve with picture inners. This example has the vintage high street shop pricestickers attached to the front & back, and remains sealed in the original shrink
