For better or worse, the ‘90s will be remembered for a lot of iconic moments, but mostly it will be for the music. There was the rise of Brit Pop and the battle between Oasis and Blur, Nirvana bringing grunge to the mainstream and influencing an entire generation to wear a plaid shirt, the Spice Girls taking over the world, and Jarvis Cocker’s stage invasion during Michael Jackson’s performance at the Brit Awards.
While music was more popular than virtually any other decade, vinyl was on the decline. CD was the chosen format, rendering cassettes obsolete, and causing vinyl sales to dwindle. Record companies began pressing less and stores rarely stocked anything other than the biggest selling titles. Now, many of the albums of the time are considered collector’s items and sell for premium prices.
We don’t always see that many collections of ‘90s vinyl here, but when we do, you can almost guarantee them to be of a high quality both in condition and content. Below are a few highlights we have in stock, and be sure to keep an eye on our latest arrivals.
REM – Out Of Time: Classic 1991 UK 11-track LP, pressed in Germany for the UK market, including Losing My Religion, Shiny Happy People & Near Wild Heaven, complete with illustrated credits inner, picture sleeve. The sleeve shows minimal wear andthe vinyl has just a few light paper scuffs with no impact on sound quality. £85
Dinosaur Jr. – Green Mind: 1991 German pressed 9-track vinyl LP including the monster hit The Wagon, glossy picture sleeve. The spine shows a little sun fading with little other wear & the vinyl appears in barely played condition. A 90’s classic! £50
DJ Shadow – Endtroducing: Classic original 1996 UK 16-track double LP, made with nothing but an Akai MPC60 MKII sampler, a record collection and a world of creative inspiration, Endtroducing is so much more than the sum of its parts, it’s ‘post-modern’ and simply oozes class, title stickered gatefold picture sleeve with inners. The sleeve has just a little light wear to the corners & edges with the art work clean & clear, whilst the vinyl has just the odd light scuff, probably due tothe discs being removed from the still inners & little visible spindle wear – a great copy! £60
