For better or worse, the ‘90s will be remembered for a lot of iconic moments, but mostly it will be for the music. There was the rise of Brit Pop and the battle between Oasis and Blur, Nirvana bringing grunge to the mainstream and influencing an entire generation to wear a plaid shirt, the Spice Girls taking over the world, and Jarvis Cocker exposing himself to Michael Jackson at the Brit Awards.
While music was more popular than virtually any other decade, vinyl was on the decline. CD was the chosen format, rendering cassettes obsolete, and causing vinyl sales to dwindle. Record companies began pressing less and stores rarely stocked anything other than the biggest selling titles. Now, many of the albums of the time are considered collector’s items and sell for premium prices.
We don’t always see that many collections of ‘90s vinyl here, but when we do, you can almost guarantee them to be of a high quality both in condition and content. Below are a few highlights we have in stock, and be sure to keep an eye on our latest arrivals.
Neil Young – Harvest Moon: 1992 German 10-track LP, the twentieth studio album by Canadian musician featuring Such A Woman arranged by Jack Nitzsche, glossy picture sleeve complete with original illustrated lyric inner. The sleeve & vinyl are Near Mint. Very nice!
Alice In Chains – Jar Of Flies/Sap: Original 1994 UK limited edition 11-track triple sided double mini LP pressed on Blue & Yellow Vinyl with picture labels, the fourth side hasbeen etched with the band’s classic logo. For a band with such an inherent heavy sound the stunning Jar Of Flies and early acoustic EP Sap showcase Alice In Chains at their most sublime; hype stickered gatefold picture sleeve with original lyric inners. The sleeve has only minor wear whilst the vinyl is in ‘near as new’ condition with very little signs of play.
Cyrpess Hill – III (Temples Of Boom): Scarce 1995 UK strictly limited edition 16-track five-sided triple vinyl set including the DJ Muggs Buddha Mix which contains elements of eight tracks including Hole In The Head, How I Could Just Kill A Man and I Wanna Get High. The third disc in the set is single-sided with a superb etched design on the reverse side. Housed in a fantastic tri-fold picture sleeve with illustrated credits inners.
