Coming on to the scene in 1985, Whitney Houston became a success story almost overnight. Her self-titled debut album was a surprise hit overnight, spawning singles such as the pop classic, How Will I Know, and the tender R&B swing of Saving All My Love For You. It was followed by the even bigger 1987 album, Whitney, which cemented her place as an international star with the uber-selling single, I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me).
Houston would remain a prominent figure in contemporary music over two decades, until tragic death in 2012. Her influence can be heard in many of today’s global popstars from Ariana Grande to Nikki Minaj, preserving her legacy as one of the all time greats.
