BYRON MORRIS & UNITY Vibrations, Themes & Serenades (Private Spiritual Jazz 1978 US first press 6-track LP, including a number of Scat workouts with Jay Clayton on vocals & an inventive reading of Mingus’ ‘Goodbye Pork Pie Hat’, Byron Morris studied with Ornette Coleman & Rahsaan Roland Kirk so expect a deep spiritual journey on this rare longplayer. This copy originates from the private collection of a former staff member for Dobells record shop in Charing Cross, & these originalUS first pressings can be distinguished via the two ridges on the black & yellow labels found here., more info here

PAUL GONSALVES QUARTET Boom-Jackie-Boom-Chick (2006 Japanese limited edition issue of the super limited 1964 8-track mono LP pressed on 200gram vinyl, replicating the original Vocalion label design, laminated flipback sleeve and album notes down to a tee. You can always rely on attention to detail with the Japanese and this is a beautifully remastered edition at a fraction of the cost of an original. The sound quality is glorious and worth it alone for the opening title track, which is an absolute knockout! Complete with Japanese text insert and obi-strip. Now scarce and in demand itself, both sleeve and vinyl are in near mint condition ***Limited to 800 copies only***. More info here

ART TATUM & BEN WEBSTER The Art Tatum – Ben Webster Quartet (1965 UK 7-track mono LP, originally released in 1956 but now expanded with the addition of ‘All The Things You Are’ & simply a stone cold classic in jazz that manages to effortlesslybreath new life into the oldies, also featuring Red Callender on bass & Bill Douglass on drums, front laminated flipback picture sleeve. DUKE ELLINGTON The Reprise Studio Recordings (Limited Edition 1999 US Mosaic audiophile 101-track 5-CD box set, featuring tracks recorded between 1962 & 1965 for Reprise, remastered from the original three track masters, complete with individually numbered twenty eight page illustrated booklet featuring stunning black & white session photographs including portraits & pictures with extensive notes on the tracks & a complete session discography, all housed in a beautiful textured outer black box with front pasted picture cover, more info here

Ultimate Jazz, rare originals…..

ART PEPPER Meets The Rhythm Section (Classic 1957 first UK issue 9-track mono LP where Art ‘borrows’ the incredible rhythm section of Miles Davis – At the time, even Miles said; ‘I have the best rhythm section in the world’ – Red Garland on piano, Paul Chambers on bass & Philly Joe Jones on drums. This is an advance issue with rough textured lime green stock labels & a ‘Sample Copy – Not For Sale’ stamp on the Side 2 label for review before release. This copy originates from the private collection of a former staff member for Dobells record shop in Charing Cross. The laminated flipback picture sleeve shows just a little corner creasing & scuffing with all text clear & the colours look rich & vivid. More info here
