HERBIE HANCOCK Man-Child: 1975 UK 6-track LP, one of the funkiest albums of Herbie’s early- to mid-’70s fusion era. Starring a host of talent, not least guitarist Wah Wah Watson, with soloists Wayne Shorter and Stevie Wonder contributing alongside long-term cohort Bennie Maupin, more info here

CHET BAKER & ART PEPPER Playboys: 1983 UK issue of the 1956 7-track LP, the classic meeting between the two giants of the West Coast ‘cool school’. The picture sleeve shows minimal wear with just a little age yellowing at the spine & the vinyllooks barely played, more info here

JIMMY SMITH Lonesome Road: Limited 1996 Japanese RVG 20bit mastering 8-track stereo CD in ‘The BN Works – 1500 Unissued’ series, containing a previously unreleased Blue Note session from November 20, 1957 with Eddie McFadden on guitar & Donald Baileyon drums, complete with Japanese liner notes booklet & obi-strip, more info here

HANK MOBLEY Poppin’: Rare limited 1980 Japanese-only 5-track stereo vinyl LP, the first in King Records’ ‘World First Appearance’ series [later issued as GXK-8163], containing a previously unreleased session recording from 20/10/57 that was shelved by Blue Note, but sounded just as good as anything Alfred Lion put out at the time, starring Art Farmer, Pepper Adams, Sonny Clark, Paul Chambers & Philly Joe Jones. Unique picture sleeve complete with Japanese insert and obi-strip. The vinyl is immaculate – one of the rarest title in the series! More info here
