JAZZ Vinyl & CD Christmas Gift ideas at eil.com this week include Pharoah Sanders, Spiro Gyra, Grant Green and more

Jazz is one of the most influential, timeless and enduring genres in music. The structuring and songwriting styles from jazz has been used in other genres such as rock, metal, hip hop and funk throughout the years. It can range from subtle and relaxing, to eclectic free jazz freakouts and has something for every music fan. We scour collections to find both iconic releases and rare obscurities to give our customers a wide range to choose from.

The three highlights we have picked out below are just the tip of the iceberg from our selection, which can be viewed in full over at eil.com

If you are looking for some great gift ideas or looking to treat yourself, our Christmas store is now open and being updated with new stock daily.

PHAROAH SANDERS Pharaoh (Scarce 1965 US first issue 2-track mono vinyl LP on the collectable ESP Disk label without the copyright text, making this a more desirable copy of this first mono pressing. Stars Stan Foster [trumpet], Jane Getz [piano], William Bennett [bass] & Marvin Pattillo [percussion], hand-printed pasted picture sleeve. The sleeve has a small split to the bottom opening edgeand some edge scuffing to the spine with the front & back artwork still looking nice; the vinyl has light scuffs with no great impact on play, a very small amount of paper loss to the label leaving it VG. This copy has been played and reveals very little surface noise! – Essential spiritual/free-jazz).

Spiro Gyra St. Radigund's - Autographed vinyl LP album (LP record) German GYRLPST806566

SPIROGYRA St. Radigund’s (Very rare Autographed 1971 German 10-track LP, signed by original bass player Steve Borrill, by the folk/psyche band with Barbara Gaskin on lead vocals & string arrangements by Robert Kirby. The sleeve shows medium shelfwear/corner creasing with a touch of edge scuffing in places & the vinyl is fantastic with just a couple of light cosmetic hairlines to show for its forty years – an incredible copy, and featuring Bassist Steve Borrill’s signature on the inner sleeve, a lovely addition to an already great collectable!! CAS1042).

Grant Green Sunday Mornin' - 1st - Mono vinyl LP album (LP record) US GR-LPSU846979

GRANT GREEN Sunday Mornin’ (Rare 1962 US 6-track mono LP on the Blue Note label with the ‘New York USA’ address on both sides, Van Gelder stamp in the run-outs aswell as the Plastylite P (ear) etching. Comes housed in a heavy card, pasted picture sleeve with the original Blue Note catalogue inner sleeve. The sleeve shows some very minor signs of age related wear with a few tiny spots of discolouration though nothing too excessive in the slightest. All text is bold and legible on the reverse and the spine. The back paper panel has suffered a small tear in one corner. A conservative very good grading, leaning more towards excellent. The vinyl displays some very light cosmetic ‘wisps’ and a small manufacturing bubble on the track ‘Exodus’. Upon a test play; It is a consistently clean play with some very faint crackling evident and we counted 3 small pops but no skips. A very clean and well looked after example of this underrated Jazz guitar classic BLP4099).
