Memorabilia has always been a big part of the music world, going back right back to the advent of record shops. Whether it was promotional only material that was distributed by labels, or weird and wonder items manufactured by the bands or labels for general sale, they make for nice collector’s pieces and can really finish off a collection.
We see all kind of memorabilia pass through our hands and below are just a few of the highlights that we have in stock at eil.com
THE BEATLES The Beatles Book (Complete set of all SEVENTY SEVEN reprints of The Beatles Book [also known as Beatles Monthly], published from May ’76 to September ’82. These reprints [now between 40 and 45 years old!] have themselves become collectors itemsand are a fascinating document of the Beatles’ decade as it happened. These copies are in pristine condition)
THE KOOBAS Gypsy Fred (Very rare 1967 UK promotional poster. This fantastic 1960s artefact for the super collectable and short-lived Liverpool ‘Beat Group’ promotes both the release of the single ‘Gypsy Fred’, alongside its use in a long-forgotten BBC TV Series ‘Mickey Dunne’ [a made for TV version of the Michael Caine film Alfie]. Measuring 50cm x 39cm the superb red-on-white colour scheme and sharp graphics combine to make this a wonderfully striking image which just screams “the Sixties”! Obtained from a private collector, the item has been folded but never displayed and remains in stunning condition throughout – Original Koobas vinyl releases were pressed in small quantites and are difficult to come by, we have never seen a poster before and can find no other examples anywhere. Rare ain’t the word – highly recommended).
JIMMY CAUTY Bugs Bunny Stamp (2006 UK limited edition screen print measuring 30.5cm x 62cm / 12 x 24.5 inches, featuring images of Bugs as a suicide bomber in part of the Red, White and Blue Patriot Series; printed on high-grade paper stock, these were withdrawn after complaints by The Royal Mail and have since become even more sought-after. This print is signed by Jimmy in the bottom left corner and hand-numbered ‘122/123’ in pencil in the bottom right corner along with a ‘Cautese National Postal Disservice’ stamp).
