While music was more popular during the 90’s than virtually any other decade, vinyl was on the decline. CD was the chosen format, rendering cassettes almost obsolete, and causing vinyl sales to dwindle. Record companies began pressing less and stores rarely stocked anything other than the biggest selling titles. Now, many of the albums of the time are considered collector’s items and sell for premium prices.
We don’t always see that many collections of ‘90s vinyl here, but when we do, you can almost guarantee them to be of a high quality both in condition and content. Below are a few highlights we have in stock and be sure to keep an eye on the latest arrivals at eil.com.
MARY BLACK The Collection (Rare & beautiful 1992 UK 14-track LP compilation from the wonderful Irish folk songstress, a perfect introduction to her work, including the duet with Eleanor McEvoy on Only A Woman’s Heart, glossy picture sleeve complete with lyric inner. The sleeve shows few signs of its age & the vinyl still looks barely played STAR2597).
DAFT PUNK Homework (1997 UK 16-track double vinyl LP with ‘promotional copy – not for sale’ sticker over the barcode on the reverse of sleeve, the debut studio album by the French electronic music duo, includes the singles Da Funk, Around the World, Burnin’ and Revolution 909, within a glossy & embossed gatefold picture sleeve with illustrated inners. The sleeve displays very little wear and the vinyl shows just light signs of play. Surely one of the greatest albums of the nineties! V2821).
THE LA’s The La’s (1990 UK first pressing 12-track vinyl LP with green tinted labels, including There She Goes, Timeless Melody & Feelin’, picture/lyric inner & picture sleeve. The sleeve shows only very minor storage wear and the vinyl has justa couple of minor surface scuffs, but shows few signs of play – overall an EX+ example).
