First Utterance by Comus is a mega rare 1971 UK first press 7-track LP on the orange Dawn label,
It is the debut album by the British progressive folk band offering a superb mixture of rock with the darker, avant-garde side of British prog-folk. The gatefold picture sleeve features captivating artwork by Roger Wootton [lead singer & songwriter of the band] & comes with the illustrated lyric insert.
The sleeve is strictly graded Very Good – due to having a matte finish & not being laminated, thereis some age wear evident including a degree of foxing but this is mostly around the edges & on the inside. All print is clearly legible & there is no writing. The insert shows some creases & the odd spot of foxing not affecting the print & completes the package nicely. The vinyl has been professionally cleaned & play tested & grades VG+ but plays to an Excellent standard. Both sides of the vinyl have a deep sheen & there is a degree of spindle marks around the centre hole to show repeat play, with no jumps or sticks & no scratches.
This is a very respectable copy of this extremely sought after 49 year old monster prog collectable, available at an extremely advantageous price as mint copies are now selling for in excess of £1500!
