CHARLES MINGUS Mingus Mingus Mingus Mingus Mingus (2009 US Universal Music ‘Special Markets’ limited ‘The Impulse!’ reissue 7-track double 45rpm LP pressed on Audiophile quality 180 Gram Heavyweight Virgin Vinyl, mastered by AcousTech from the original analog master tapes, originally released in 1963 featuring a collaboration with arranger/orchestrator Bob Hammer to score the music for a large ensemble of brass and saxophones, glossy gatefold picture sleeve with an AnalogueProductions individually numbered sticker on the reverse. This example remains factory sealed from new in the perforated bag with breather holes, therefore in an unplayed condition).
CHARLIE PARKER Charlie Parker On Verve 1946-1954 (Magnificent 1983 Japanese promotional sample 10-LP box set for review ahead of release, featuring all of the JATP jams from this period, all of the stunning “Bird & Strings” sides, his meetingswith Machito’s Cuban orchestra, the 1950 session with Dizzy Gillespie & Thelonious Monk, small-group dates (including a 1951 date with Miles Davis), odd encounters with voices & studio bands, the famous “Jam Blues” with fellow altoists JohnnyHodges & Benny Carter, plus his final recordings, a set of Cole Porter tunes. Comes housed in a deep 12″ picture box with 28-page ‘sessionography’ booklet & obi-strip. The packaging [VG+] has some light age wear with some scuffing to the edges & the vinyl discs are near ‘as new’ 00MJ3268/77).
THE GRAHAM COLLIER SEXTET Down Another Road (1969 UK 6-track stereo LP, a cult British jazz album that is only now starting to receive the accolade it deserves, containing carefully arranged & beautifully constructed compositions with a consistently high performance level, fully laminated picture sleeve with album notes penned by Collier himself. The sleeve shows just a little light shelfwear & the vinyl remains in excellent condition with just a couple of cosmetic surface scuffs to show for nearly fifty years SFJL922).
