Just in at eil Towers is an incredible collection of vintage ska, rocksteady, reggae, dub and beyond. Obtained from an obsessive Jamaican music nut (his words not ours!), it runs like a Jamaican music history lesson, with Ska, Rocksteady, Reggae and Dub all featured – includes many super-rare UK pressed ‘45s on Pama, Trojan, Punch, Coxsone, Attack, Sunshot, Wild Flower and Klik, too.
We have a wide range of ska/reggae titles in our store right now. Below are some of the highlights, and you can see our full selection on eil.com.
Lloyd and The Groovers – Do It To Me Baby: Fantastic 1967 UK 7″ single featuring Lloyd backed with Lynn Tait’s heavyweight outfit, also featuring The Diplomat’s Meet Me At The Corner on this rumbling Rocksteady double-sider. The rough textured Caltone labels have the four-prong centre intact & the vinyl remains stunning near mint. One of the coolest label designs pre-Reggae!
The Heptones – Baby: Rare 1960s Jamaican wide centre 7″ vinyl single on the pale blue Coxsone label, a familiar inclusion on many Reggae & Rocksteady compilations, includes Mama Let Me Go, plain die-cut card sleeve. As is common for the genre, the vinyl has noticeable scuffing & surface marks which produce only light background noise in places; the label has a just a small pen mark & a ‘Made in Jamaica’ stamp – a real classic!
Ken Lazarus – Girl / Sister, Big Stuff: 1971 UK 7″ vinyl single with four-prong centre, a pair of Soul Reggae numbers with Tomorrow’s Children really getting the Funky edge, plain die-cut sleeve. The labels have been annotated and decorated with pen, whilst the vinyl has light axial wear and the odd light hairline leaving it Very Good.
