Bobak, Jons, Malone’s opus, Motherlight, is a highly prized British Psych treasure which stars the cult figure, Wil Malone on drums, keyboards, vocals, songwriting & arranging. This record sold in miniscule amounts at the time & is now impossible to find.
This is only the second time in all our years we have managed to secure an original first press of this very elusive LP, which was notoriously bootlegged in the eighties, here’s the real deal. The labels are the original powder blue design & the matrix info in the run-outs are machine stamped.
The sleeve is a peculiar non-laminated design & is textured on the front panel & flipbacks. There is a small sticker tear in the top right corner, unobtrusive to the print, which blends in with the design. The cover grades VG with some ring wear & light patches of foxing & discolouring. The edges are scuffed with some paper loss in those areas & all text is clearly legible including along the spine. The lyrics are printed on the back & there is no writing other than a tiny pen mark in a back corner, top right. The spine would sit proud on the shelf with the black text in full view.
The vinyl has been professionally cleaned on a top of the line Matrix machine & grades Excellent, with a nice deep sheen both sides. On close inspection, there is just a little ever so faint reaction to the poly bag inner which does not affect play. The original ‘2-69’ dated poly inner is included. This one comes highly recommended & is unlikely to ever be seen again!
