Fleetwood Mac’s upcoming tour will be a ‘massive trek’

From Planet Rock.

Mick Fleetwood has confirmed to Planet Rock that Fleetwood Mac’s eagerly-anticipated new tour will be a “massive trek around the planet.”

The British-American music icons haven’t performed together since they wrapped up their On with the Show world tour in November 2015, and this summer Christine McVie confirmed that Fleetwood Mac will “start rehearsing (for a global tour) in March” with a view to hit the road “around June 2018.”

Now, appearing on My Planet Rocks, Mick Fleetwood says that the tour will likely commence in “late summer” rather than June and it will be “the beginning of a massive trek around the planet.”

Asked by Wyatt about the band members’ upcoming plans, Mick said: “We’re all (actively touring) apart from John (McVie) who loves to go sailing – he’s the only sensible one.

“I keep busy, I play a lot. I have my blues band and we’ve done a couple of trips around the west coast of America playing clubs and ballrooms and stuff.

Stevie (Nicks) is a workaholic, she’s on the road, she was playing here (London) not that long ago with Tom Petty (at British Summer Time Hyde Park). She’s off to Australia and New Zealand in November and then she’s done.

“Christine (McVie), alive and well, I saw her for dinner last night actually – she lives here in London, she’s going back to finish out 20 shows with Lindsey (Buckingham) with an album that me and John worked on (June’s ‘Lindsey Buckingham/Christine McVie’), the four of us, but they took the thing and ran with it, which is totally cool.

“And then next year we’re probably – not probably – our full intention is next year’s gonna be the beginning of a massive trek around the planet. Late summer and back at it!”

Fleetwood Mac last toured the UK in the summer of 2015 playing 15 arena shows and headlining Isle of Wight Festival as part of their sprawling 120-date worldwide tour.

Mick recently released his expansive new book ‘Love That Burns’, which chronicles the first era of Fleetwood Mac from the late 1960s to 1974.

The synopsis reads: “Love That Burns contains original manuscript from Mick Fleetwood recounting his childhood, early bands, Fleetwood Mac’s debut performance, first international tours, live gig antics, playing with blues legends at Chess Studios, the genius of Peter Green and the many talented members that formed Fleetwood Mac in the years before 1975.

“Love That Burns features text commentaries by Peter Green, Christine McVie, John McVie, Jeremy Spencer, John Mayall, Mike Vernon, Sandra (Vigon) Elsdon and Jenny Boyd and is narrated with more than 20,000 words.”
