ZOOT SIMS Zoot At Ronnie Scott’s (1962 UK 7-track mono LP on a ‘rough’ textured black & silver Fontana label, recorded live at Ronnie’s famous jazz club in Soho across three nights in November the previous year. Also features The Ronnie Scott / Jimmy Deuchar Quartet with Stan Tracey on piano (who wrote the evocatively titled ‘The Haunted Jazz Club’, a standout number here) plus The Harold McNair Quartet. The front laminated sleeve shows minimal edge scuffing with a tiny seam split totop edge and otherwise the spine is perfectly legible, the flipbacks secure and the print is a lovely off-white. The vinyl reveals only a few very faint hairlines and some minor spindle marks but these small blemishes have little effect on play – a beautiful NM- copy! TFL5176).
SONNY ROLLINS The Sound Of Sonny (Rare 1961 UK issue of the 1957 9-track mono vinyl LP on the white ‘reels & mic’ Riverside label with tax stamp to the B Side, also featuring Sonny Clark on Piano, Percy Heath or Paul Chambers on Bass & Roy Haynes on Drums, US manufacturedpasted picture sleeve. So often found with splits and tears to the seams, this sleeve shows just a little wear along the spine, which even so remains clearly and fully readable. The vinyl is spectacular and shows little sign of play leaving it Excellent. An amazing copy of this landmark album RLP12-241).
JOHN COLTRANE Coltrane In Japan (1973 Japanese-only 5-track triple LP box set, featuring an award winning performance recorded live at Kosei Nenkin Hall in Tokyo on 22nd July 1966 by the Coltrane Quintet, featuring Pharoah Sanders on Alto, Tenor & Percussion, Alice Coltrane on Piano, Jimmy Garrison on Bass & Rashied Ali on Drums. Each disc is in its own respective picture sleeve, complete with an eight-page Japanese booklet, all housed in a 12″ pasted box with ‘Jazz Right Now’ obi-strip. This collector’s copy has a bonus ‘seal of approval’ shaped sticker attached to the front of the box as well as a green ‘Jazz Disc Award Winning’ sticker attached to the obi. The box shows only the lightest signs of its age & all vinyl discs appear Near Mint IMR-9036C).
