What is an autograph?

From Wikipedia, an autograph is a person’s own handwriting or signature. The word autograph comes from Ancient Greek (αὐτός, autós, “self” and γράφω, gráphō, “write”), and can mean more specifically a manuscript written by the author of its content, or a celebrity’s handwritten signature.

O.M.D. Liberator – Autographed 1993 UK promotional only box set which comprises ‘From Factory To Liberty’ electronic press kit PAL format video in a custom picture slipcase, 4-track sampler cassette and press release sheet, all housed within a14″ x 9″ x 1″ custom glossy picture box. This copy has been nicely signed on the front by Andy McCluskey and was given away as a prize in a competition by Hampshire’s Power FM with the compliment slip still inside! There is just a little light creasing to the spine of the box and the contents are unused.

MICHAEL CRAWFORD Barnum – 1981 UK 17-track Signed LP featuring the music from the classic musical and featuring the Original London Cast. The gatefold picture sleeve has been clearly Autographed ‘Best Wishes Michael Crawford’ on the front and features cast pictures and synopsis across the centre spread. The sleeve has minor wear & the vinyl is in near mint condition – a superb copy.

MARILLION FEAR (F*** Everyone And Run) – Autographed 2016 UK limited special edition box set for their eighteenth studio album, available via an online pledge service, including the 6-track CD and NTSC DVD featuring the album in Surround Sound 5.1 DTS HDMaster Audio, 96kHz PCM Stereo and PCM Stereo Instrumental along with extra features. Both discs are housed inside a 180-page hardback art book with exclusive artwork and name credit list for pledgers only, issued in a 6½” x6½” glossy picture slipcase. This example has been fully signed by the album line-up of Steve Hogarth, Steve Rothery, Pete Trewavas, Mark Kelly and Ian Mosley across the front in a black marker pen.

AMI SHAVIT In Alpha Mood – Jaw-droppingly rare 1977 Israeli limited edition private-press 5-track vinyl LP on the black Amis label – A part music, part brain experiment, the music which is ‘stimulated by the theory and practice of bio feedback’ is designed to relax you by engaging with the Alpha brain waves. We’re not sure if it works or not, but what is sure is that this is a great early Ambient outing using some fantastic synths to create an aural landscape to mellow to, all presented in a minimalist screen-printed gatefold picture sleeve which has been dedicated, dated and signed by Ami [look in the yellow & green portion of the wave]. The reverse states that it is a limited numbered edition of 5000 copies [ours is un-numbered], however sources state that this is a misprint and that the number was actually 500 only, meaning not only is this Tel Aviv’s first electronic album, it is also its rarest! The sleeve shows light wear with a small area of paper loss inside the gatefold to the top corner, although this is not especially noticeable; the vinyl has just a few light hairline scuffs leaving it Excellent. Recently re-issued by Finders Keepers, this is a chance to grab a one-owner only original; we won’t get one again!
