What is an audiophile pressing?
Well, in a nutshell, it’s an audio format pressed to help enhance the sound quality, be that on vinyl or Compact Disc.
The idea being the heavier the vinyl pressing, the better. There have been pressings released from 120 up to 200 Gram in weight, usually the 200 Gram will play at 45rpm providing a better audio experience, instead of the standard 33 1/3rpm.
Compact Discs have various different formats, gold was used in the earlier pressing as it supposedly provided a better a clearer sound reproduction.
Mobile Fidelity are known for being one of the leaders in producing vinyl and CDs of an audiophile grade, with the original releases now highly collectable.
We now have Super Audio CDs, SHM-CD providing a high-fidelity-audio, Blu-Spec CDs using Blu-ray technology, along with DVD-Audio using DVD technology, both providing surround sound audio.

Housed in a single pocket picture sleeve which has no artist, title or tracklisting printed, with the labels printed with this information. COCTEAU TWINS Heaven Or Las Vegas (2014 UK limited edition digitally remastered issue of their 1990 10-track LP pressed on Audiophile quality 180gram Heavyweight Vinyl. Housed in a picture sleeve with illustrated credits inner. The sleeve has some light edgewear and a few storage marks, whilst the vinyl looks barely played CAD3420)
AVENGED SEVENFOLD The Stage (2016 UK limited edition 11-track double LP pressed on 180gram Heavyweight Vinyl, the American heavy metallers’ seventh studio album, including the singles God Damn and the title track. Housed in a gatefold picture sleeve with lyric insert. The sleeve shows some light edge scuffing and ringwear, whilst the vinyl looks barely played).
SANTANA Santana (2007 US limited edition Mobile Fidelity Ultradisc II™ 9-track 24kt GOLD CD album – originally released the same month as their incendiary set at Woodstock [August 1969], this impressive debut kick-started a Hall of Fame legacy that lasts still today.
