The advent of CD’s seemed like the death knell for vinyl during the ‘90s. That was only made worse by file sharing becoming popular as the decade came to a close and edged into the early ‘00s. We now know that vinyl would have an unprecedented resurgence in later years, which has led to collectors desperately seeking out original pressings from the ‘90s. Those rare Creation records pressings that shaped alternative music as we know it today, the rare pressings of iconic grunge records that are white whales for many, and weird and wonderful electronic music are always popular with completists.
Finding original ‘90s pressings is hard for anyone, ourselves included, but it does happen, and we have great stock of some rarities over at eil.com now.
CHER Cher’s Greatest Hits 1965-1992 (1992 Dutch 16-track double vinyl LP compilation, including The Shoop Shoop Song, If I Could Turn Back Time, I Got You Babe and many more. Complete with the picture / credit inners, the glossy single-pocketpicture sleeve retains its gold title-sticker and has just a little shelfwear whilst the vinyl appears in near ‘as new’ condition GEF24439).
WHITE ZOMBIE Astro-Creep: 2000 (1995 UK/European 11-track limited edition LP pressed on Purple Vinyl, the fourth and final studio album from the group, and includes their popular hit singles More Human thanHuman and Super-Charger Heaven; with illustrated lyric inner and glossy picture sleeve. The sleeve displays just a little corner wear, whilst the vinyl looks barely played. A fantastic example GEF24806).
GLENN DANZIG Black Aria (Rare original 1992 US Plan 9 label 9-track LP, housed in a picture sleeve featuring artwork by renowned comic book and graphic artist Michael William Kaluta with a great image of Glenn on the reverse by Anton Corbijn. This example still has the original stickered shrink covering the front & just partially covering the back, so the sleeve diplays minimal wear. The labels have just a few light spindle marks and the vinyl shows only a few light signs of play, overall a fantastic example PL9-11).
