What is an audiophile pressing?
Well, in a nutshell, it’s an audio format pressed to help enhance the sound quality, be that on vinyl or Compact Disc.
The idea being the heavier the vinyl pressing, the better. There have been pressings released from 120 up to 200 Gram in weight, usually the 200 Gram will play at 45rpm providing a better audio experience, instead of the standard 33 1/3rpm.
Compact Discs have various different formats, gold was used in the earlier pressing as it supposedly provided a better a clearer sound reproduction.
Mobile Fidelity are known for being one of the leaders in producing vinyl and CDs of an audiophile grade, with the original releases now highly collectable.
We now have Super Audio CDs, SHM-CD providing a high-fidelity-audio, Blu-Spec CDs using Blu-ray technology, along with DVD-Audio using DVD technology, both providing surround sound audio.

EIGHTH WONDER Fearless (2018 UK limited edition double LP issue of their 1988 debut album now pressed on 180gram Red Vinyl, featuring the singles I’m Not Scared & Cross My Heart and comes expanded with 8 bonus remixes and extended versions. Both discs are housed in the individually numbered gatefold picture sleeve all of which remain near mint DEMRECDLX006) **Limited to 1000 Copies Only**.
THE BEATLES Let It Be (Rare 1984 US Mobile Fidelity limited edition ‘Original Master Recording’ half-speed mastered 12-track audiophile LP pressed on High Definition Vinyl by the Victor Company of Japan, gatefold picture sleeve including original wraparound card series inner. The sleeve displays just a little light general wear and better than excellent, whilst the vinyl remains in an outstanding condition with no spindle marks to the labels and looks to have had limited time on a turntable, with a beautiful lustre! MFSL1-109).
ROLLING STONES Sticky Fingers (1981 US half-speed mastered issue of the 1971 10-track LP in Mobile Fidelity’s limited edition audiophile series, pressed in Japan on High Definition Super Vinyl for utmost clarity in sound & designated for the US market, housed in a deluxe picture sleeve with raised gold metallic effect zipper originally designed by Andy Warhol. Also includes the series card insert, warranty slip & illustrated credits insert. The sleeve displays some minor wear mostly to the edges & corners, whilst the vinyl shows very little, if any, signs of play MFSL1-060).
THELONIOUS MONK Monk’s Dream (2014 US issue 8-track Hybrid SA-CD [Super Audio CD – playable only on SACD players] manufactured in Austria. Originally released in 1963, produced by Teo Macero with Charles Rouse, John Ore, & Frankie Dunlop, a significant addition to Monk’s already legendary performances; fold-out picture sleeve with sleeve notes by Teo Macero and Martin Williams).
PAUL McCARTNEY & WINGS Band On The Run (Limited edition 1997 UK EMI 100 series audiophile issue of the 1973 10-track LP pressed on 180gm Virgin Vinyl, an analogue cutting direct from the original analogue tapes, housed in a custom stickered deluxe sleeve which is promo stickered on the back & complete with the illustrated lyric inner & replica polaroids poster. The sleeve displays minimal wear and very little signs of age, apart from a small split the inner remains really nice, whilst the vinyl remains in a ‘near as new’ condition LPCENT30).
