What is an audiophile pressing?
Well, in a nut shell, it’s an audio format pressed to help enhance the sound quality, be that on vinyl or Compact Disc.
The idea being the heavier the vinyl pressing, the better. There have been pressings released from 120 up to 200 Gram in weight, usually the 200 Gram will play at 45rpm providing a better audio experience, instead of the standard 33 1/3rpm.
Compact Discs have various different formats, gold was used in the earlier pressing as it supposedly provided a better a clearer sound reproduction.
Mobile Fidelity are known for being one of the leaders in producing vinyl and CDs of an audiophile grade, with the original releases now highly collectable.
We now have Super Audio CDs, SHM-CD providing a high-fidelity-audio, Blu-Spec CDs using Blu-ray technology, along with DVD-Audio using DVD technology, both providing surround sound audio.

CHICK COREA Now He Sings, Now He Sobs (2019 US limited edition remastered reissue of the 5-track LP pressed on audiophile quality 180gram vinyl, stickered gatefold picture sleeve sealed within a perforated tear bag. Originally released in 1969 and featuring Chick Corea on piano, Roy Hayens on drums and Miroslav Vitous, this edition was mastered from the original analog tapes at Cohearent Audio and manufactured at Record Technology Inc. (RTI) – in other words – it sounds incredible! This copy is still sealed and in ‘as new’ condition B0029363-01).
KISS Kiss Rocks Vegas Nevada (2020 UK/EU limited edition 17-track 2-LP set pressed on 180 Gram Yellow Vinyl for the first time! Also includes a copy of the concert on DVD. Housed in a gatefold picture sleeve, factory sealed from new with the hype sticker intact. All killer no filler!).
AMY WINEHOUSE Lioness: Hidden Treasures (UK/EU 12-track compilation 2-LP set first released in 2011, pressed on 45RPM 180gram vinyl. Featuring a selection of demos and previously unreleased songs, gatefold picture sleeve with lyrics inside and credits insert. Factory sealed from new, mint & unplayed).
THE WHO Live At Leeds (2018 UK Deluxe Edition 33-track Half Speed Mastered triple LP pressed on Audiophile quality 180 Gram Heavyweight Vinyl, remastered by Miles Showell at Abbey Road Studios. Featuring the tracks in the order they were played by The Who at Leeds University back on Valentine’s Day 1970. Housed in a fold-out picture sleeve with belly-band and still sealed)
