Jazz is one of the most influential, timeless and enduring genres in music. The structuring and songwriting styles from jazz has been used in other genres such as rock, metal, hip hop and funk throughout the years. It can range from subtle and relaxing, to eclectic free jazz freakouts and has something for every music fan. We scour collections to find both iconic releases and rare obscurities to give our customers a wide range to choose from.
The three highlights we have picked out below are just the tip of the iceberg from our selection, which can be viewed in full over at eil.com
ILLINOIS JACQUET King Jacquet (1977 French 16-track LP featuring sessions recorded between 1947 & 1950, gatefold picture sleeve. This copy has been nicely AUTOGRAPHED on the front & dedicated ‘To David’ by no less a person than the legendary ILLINOIS JACQUET himself. In addition, stapled inside the gatefold is the business card of ‘Jacquet’s Inc’ [Illinois & Russell Jacquet] which promises ‘Music For All Occasions’ – A gem! PM42042).
CANNONBALL ADDERLEY with MILT JACKSON Things Are Getting Better (Rare 1959 UK 7-track mono LP on the rough textured blue ‘reels & mic’ label, recorded in New York City on October 28th 1958 with Wynton Kelly on Piano, Percy Heath on Bass & ArtBlakey on Drums, a line-up you can hardly go wrong with! The front laminated flipback picture sleeve is in superb excellent condition with a near mint spine & just some very minor foxing on the back forgiveable with age. The heavyweight vinyl is Excellent to Near Mint with barely any play RLP12-286).
GIL EVANS Parabola (1979 Italian only 5-track double LP recorded in Rome on July 29th 1978, front laminated gatefold picture sleeve. The sleeve shows little wear and the vinyl is Near Mint. A nice copy of this unusual Southern European pressing! HDP31-32).
