What is an audiophile pressing?
Well, in a nut shell, it’s an audio format pressed to help enhance the sound quality, be that on vinyl or Compact Disc.
The idea being the heavier the vinyl pressing, the better. There have been pressings released from 120 up to 200 Gram in weight, usually the 200 Gram will play at 45rpm providing a better audio experience, instead of the standard 33 1/3rpm.
Compact Discs have various different formats, gold was used in the earlier pressing as it supposedly provided a better a clearer sound reproduction.
Mobile Fidelity are known for being one of the leaders in producing vinyl and CDs of an audiophile grade, with the original releases now highly collectable.
We now have Super Audio CDs, SHM-CD providing a high-fidelity-audio, Blu-Spec CDs using Blu-ray technology, along with DVD-Audio using DVD technology, both providing surround sound audio.

METALLICA Master Of Puppets (1987 UK Music For Nations limited edition Direct Metal Mastered 8-track 45RPM double LP. The third studio album by the American heavy metal band originally released in 1986, gatefold picture sleeve with lyrics printed across the inner spread and comes with the bonus fold-out poster. The sleeve shows very little wear and the vinyl remains ‘near as new’ with very little signs of play MFN60DM).
SIGUR ROS Hvarf / Heim (2013 UK limited edition 11-track double LP released exclusively for Record Store Day pressed on 180gram Translucent Blue & Green Vinyl, featuring a collection of previously unreleased studio rarities and live & acoustic performances recorded in Iceland 2006-2007. Both discs appear in unplayed condition housed in the gatefold picture sleeve P9584341).
MOODY BLUES Days Of Future Passed (1981 US limited edition Mobile Fidelity half-speed mastered audiophile issue of the 1967 7-track LP, pressed on Super High Definition Vinyl by the Victor Company in Japan, picture sleeve with fold-out MFSL catalogue inner. The sleeve shows very little wear & the vinyl is Near Mint MFSL1-042).
WOLFMOTHER Wolfmother (2015 UK 17-track double LP pressed on 180 gram Vinyl, the 10th Anniversary edition of the debut album from the Australian three-piece retro-rockers. The gatefold picture sleeve is Excellent with some minor shelf wear [1″ hairline split in top edge] & the heavyweight vinyl discs appear Near Mint).
