Jazz is on of the most influential, timeless and enduring genres in music. The structuring and songwriting styles from jazz has been used in other genres such as rock, metal, hip hop and funk throughout the years. It can range from subtle and relaxing, to eclectic free jazz freakouts and has something for every music fan. We scour collections to find both iconic releases and rare obscurities to give our customers a wide range to choose from.
The three highlights we have picked out below are just the tip of the iceberg from our selection, which can be viewed in full over at eil.com
GABOR SZABO Jazz Raga (1967 UK 11-track stereo LP, with the guitarist overdubbing sitar parts to create a wonderfully exotic album of Oriental jazz. Includes the originals Mizrab, Search For Nirvana, Krishna and Ravi, plus trance-like versions ofPaint It Black and Caravan, all starring Bernard ‘Pretty’ Purdie on drums. Front laminated flipback picture sleeve with superb cover art painted by Szabo himself shows just some minor shelfwear and a little discolouration to the reverse. The vinyl is in Excelent condition. Sublime! CSD3614).
PHAROAH SANDERS Deaf Dumb Blind – Summun Bukmun Umyun (Spiritual Afro Jazz 1971 UK 2-track stereo LP on Probe, also starring the likes of Gary Bartz, Lonnie Liston Smith & Cecil McBee, with African chants & traditional African percussive instruments to the fore, front laminated flipback picture sleeve with die-cut company inner. The sleeve is a crisp & clean example, grading Excellent with just a few minor spots of creasing to the laminate. The vinyl also grades Excellent with minimal signs of play SPB1019).
SONNY ROLLINS Sonny Rollins & The Contemporary Leaders (1959 UK 8-track mono LP on a deep groove lime green label, also starring Hampton Hawes on Piano, Barney Kessel on Guitar, Leroy Vinnegar on Bass & Shelly Manne on Drums, fully laminated flipback picture sleeve. This is a stunning almost one previous owner copy with just some ligns of wear to the sleeve [a tiny laminate chip along the top edge and a spot of foxing to the reverse]. The vinyl too reveals little of its age & is easily Excellent with minimal evidence of play LAC12213).
