Memorabilia has always been a big part of the music world, going back right back to the advent of record shops. Whether it was promotional only material that was distributed by labels, or weird and wonder items manufactured by the bands or labels for general sale, they make for nice collector’s pieces and can really finish off a collection.
We see all kind of memorabilia pass through our hands and below are just a few of the highlights that we have in stock at eil.com
JIMI HENDRIX Official Programme (Rare original 1967 UK 8″ x 10″ 20-page programme for Jimi’s appearance on tour with The Walker Brothers & Englebert Humperdinck! Features rare black & white photographs & biographies of the acts on the bill including Cat Stevens, complete with a two-page spread on The Experience & an advertisement for the ‘Purple Haze’ single. This copy has survived in Very Good condition & all pages are intact with no writing. There is light foxing to the inside pages forgiveable with age, some vertical crease marks [see image] to the front & back cover & a pin-hole in the top left corner where an excited youth once carefully displayed it, but these do not detract from what is a wonderful & evocative piece of early Jimi memorabilia!).
MUD Signed Photographs (1970s UK quantity of three different black & white Walkerprint photographs, includes one 4″ x 6″ print featuring a great image of the four band members with the band name at the bottom and the fan club address, signed by Ray Stiles in a black pen. One 10″ x 8″ black & white photograph of Rob Davis holding a guitar which he has boldly signed in a blue marker pen. And lastly, a 10″ x 8″ photo of Les Gray performing on stage which has been boldly signed in a blackpen. These were acquired from an ex EMI employee, who worked closely with the record label, their many artists and other labels. A nice set, sadly Les passed away in 2004).
THE CORRS Framed Tin Whistle & Photograph (From a vast collection of memorabilia items, from a super fan. What we have here, as the title suggests, is a Walton’s Whistle tuned to the key of ‘D’, made in Dublin, Ireland. Manufactured from brushedbrass with a blue plastic fipple (mouthpiece), this is the same make of whistle which Andrea Corr uses. This has been mounted alongside a fantastic candid image of Andrea playing one during a concert, taken by the original owner during one ofthe many shows he attended. The whistle and photo are mounted on a red die-cut mount and professionally framed & glazed in a specially made box frame with a black wooden frame, looks fantastic and ready for displaying. Please note that one of the section of the mount has become loose but could easily be fixed).
