DONALD BYRD Off To The Races – 1993 Japanese 6-track CD album reissued and remastered for the ‘BN Works 4000’ series, originally recorded on December 2nd, Van Gelder Studio, Hackensack, New Jersey 1958. Including Lover Come Back To Me and features Jackie McLean – Alto Saxophone, Pepper Adams – Baritone Saxophone, Sam Jones – Bass, Art Taylor – Drums, Wynton Kelly – Piano and Donald Byrd – Trumpet. Picture sleeve reproducing the original 1959 Blue Note LP cover artwork with Japanese12-page booklet including liner note, with tracklist and credits in Japanese and English, fold-out Japanese insert reproducing the original back cover artwork with liner note by Joe Goldberg and Blue Note catalogue on the flipside, also includes inlay and CD disc using the Blue Note: blue & white label design, all housed in a jewel case with series picture obi-strip TOCJ-4007

The CDs are all official releases dating between the late eighties & early nineties, before the days of over-remastering & heavy compression, meaning these should sound superb with the right sound system. The CDs are a mixture of European [German] & US pressings & each part is housed in its respective album jewel case with picture inlays. All CDs remain in Excellent condition [the majority are near ‘as new’] with five still sealed & unopened & a large number with their original price stickers attached – a very convenient purchase for the casual fan!
