COMUS First Utterance (Mega rare 1971 UK first press 7-track LP on the orange Dawn label, the debut album by the British progressive folk band offering a superb mixture of rock with the darker, avant-garde side of British prog-folk. The gatefold picture sleeve features captivating artwork by Roger Wootton [lead singer & songwriter of the band] & comes with the illustrated lyric insert. The sleeve is strictly graded Very Good – due to having a matte finish & not being laminated, thereis some age wear evident including a degree of foxing but this is mostly around the edges & on the inside. All print is clearly legible & there is no writing. The insert shows some creases & the odd spot of foxing not affecting the print & completes the package nicely. The vinyl has been professionally cleaned & play tested & grades VG+ but plays to an Excellent standard. Both sides of the vinyl have a deep sheen & there is a degree of spindle marks around the centre hole to show repeat play, with no jumps or sticks & no scratches. This is a very respectable copy of this extremely sought after 49 year old monster prog collectable, available at an extremely advantageous price as mint copies are now selling for in excess of £1000! DNLS3019).
MAY BLITZ The 2nd Of May (Rare first issue 1971 UK Vertigo large ‘swirl’ label 8-track vinyl LP with the matrix numbers 1Y/1V420 and 2Y/1V420 – this was their second & final album, gatefold picture sleeve with illustration by Tony Benyon and original spiral inner. The sleeve has 1.5″ seam split to the top, otherwise shows few signs of its age. The vinyl has a light scuff to Side A through the end of For Mad Men Only and the start of Snakes And Ladders, which playtesting confirms results in no real impact on playback, with the rest of the two sides at the high end of Excellent & spindle wear to a minimum. A wonderful copy of this rarity! 6360 037).
