For better or worse, the ‘90s will be remembered for a lot of iconic moments, but mostly it will be for the music. There was the rise of Brit Pop and the battle between Oasis and Blur, Nirvana bringing grunge to the mainstream and influencing an entire generation to wear a plaid shirt, the Spice Girls taking over the world, and Jarvis Cocker’s stage invasion during Michael Jackson’s performance at the Brit Awards.
While music was more popular than virtually any other decade, vinyl was on the decline. CD was the chosen format, rendering cassettes obsolete, and causing vinyl sales to dwindle. Record companies began pressing less and stores rarely stocked anything other than the biggest selling titles. Now, many of the albums of the time are considered collector’s items and sell for premium prices.
We don’t always see that many collections of ‘90s vinyl here, but when we do, you can almost guarantee them to be of a high quality both in condition and content. Below are a few highlights we have in stock, and be sure to keep an eye on our latest arrivals.
LED ZEPPELIN Remasters (1990 UK 24-track triple vinyl LP compilation set manufactured in Germany, digitally remastered by Jimmy Page and George Marino at Sterling Sound, New York, in May 1990, tri-fold glossy picture sleeve. The sleeve on this example has a little spine wear and minor edge scuffing; whilst the vinyl has just a couple of minor surface scuffs, but little evidence of play. An wonderful EX+ example of this pressing thirty-years on ZEP1).
THE FUTURE SOUND OF LONDON Dead Cities (1996 UK limited edition 13-track double vinyl LP with picture labels, their fourth studio album including the singles My Kingdom and We Have Explosive. The gatefold picture sleeve comes with the individual picture inners and both vinyl discs remain in EX condition).
MORRISSEY Bona Drag (1990 EU/German-pressed 14-track LP compilation, including Suedehead, Everyday Is Like Sunday & more, obtained from the famous RTL Radio Library in Paris, with a ‘Discotheque RTL’ stamp on the back of the picture sleeve for review before release, complete with the lyric inner. The sleeve & vinyl are in Excellent condition with few signs of wear or play).
