This week in our jazz highlights we have a Japanese promotional only sampler from John Coltrane, a Japanese Miles Davis album, and Mobile-Fidelity pressing of a Count Basie album.

JOHN COLTRANE Special (Rare 1976 Japanese-only & promotional-only 7-track LP sampler for in store play use, featuring a selection of Coltrane recordings from the Impulse back catalogue. Comes housed in a unique black & white flipback picture sleeve. The sleeve [VG+] has some light foxing with a tiny paper tear above the ‘Columbia’ wording on the front & no writing. The vinyl appears Near Mint Y-117).
MILES DAVIS Miles In Tokyo (1972 Japanese 5-track stereo LP recorded live on 14th July 1964, with Sam Rivers, Herbie Hancock, Ron Carter & Tony Williams, textured picture sleeve with Japanese insert & nice top obi-strip. Other than a very faint spot of foxing on the obi, the packaging is Near Mint & still in the original open shrink. The vinyl is near ‘as new’ SOPL-162).
COUNT BASIE & HIS ORCHESTRA April In Paris (Limited Edition 1995 Japanese issue Mobile Fidelity half-speed mastered audiophile issue of the 1956 10-track mono LP, specially plated & pressed on 200gram High Definition Vinyl, housed in a deluxe gatefold picture sleeve which is numbered on the back in gold & complete with company card inner. This was manufactured in the US and exported to be sold in Japan, with a Japanese insert on the back and a Japanese hype-sticker on the front. This example is factory sealed from new, therefore remains in a mint and unplayed condition MFSL1-237).
