This week we are focusing on some high end jazz rarities that we have in stock. This includes a test pressing of the Roarin’ by British jazz maestro, Don Rendell, the revered self-titled album from obscure jazz-rock band, Tonton Macoute and a rare stereo pressing of Everything’s Coming Up Rosy by Rosemary Squires.
Below are just some of the highlights, and you can see the full catalogue over at our Jazz Collectors Store.
DON RENDELL & THE NEW JAZZ QUINTET Roarin’ (Monster Rare British Jazz 1961 UK white label test pressing for the first press 7-track mono LP, with plain white labels and stamped ‘Sample Not For Sale’ on B-Side . Recorded in London, June 17 & August 29, 1961 with Graham Bond [alto sax], John Burch [piano], TonyArcher [bass] & Phil Kinorra [drums], within a front laminated flipback picture sleeve with the catalogue number printed on the back along with a record shop sticker. Please see more information for futher details on condition JLP51).
TONTON MACOUTE Tonton Macoute (Rare and in demand original 1971 UK Neon label 7-track LP of British jazz-rock with blues and psych touches, revered by the prog intelligentsia, housed in a superb Keef-designed matt gatefold picture sleeve printed and made by the EJ Day Group. The sleeve displays some scuffing to its edges, yet the spine is clearly legible and the inside print immaculate with just a small pen mark next to one of the tracks. The vinyl is housed in its die-cut poly-linedinner and remains excellent with only a few light cosmetic surface scuffs but shows only light evidence of play. Recommended NE4).
ROSEMARY SQUIRES Everything’s Coming Up Rosy (Impossibly rare 1963 UK 12-track STEREO vinyl LP, issued in the front laminated flipback picture sleeve complete with HMV poly lined inner. The Mono release is hard enough to find in itself, but Stereo copies are near mythical and this copy of the highly sought after UK female Jazz vocal LP is in very nice condition indeed CSD1508)
